One of Britain’s greatest Palladian country houses, Houghton Hall was built between 1722 and 1735 for Sir Robert Walpole, Britain’s first Prime Minister. Designed by Colen Campbell and James Gibbs, with magnificent interiors by William Kent, it is a masterpiece of classical architecture, where symmetry, proportion and grandeur combine beautifully. I’ve also included a few photographs of the famous Stone Hall. This breathtaking double-height cubic space was conceived as a theatrical entrance to the state floor and is one of the finest interiors of the Georgian period. Quite simply, it is the most incredible room I have ever had the privilege to visit. - #houghtonhall #historicarchitecture #history”.
